CompPair manufactures a new composite material that can repair itself. Through an innovative chemical process, it is possible to repair the material by applying heat between 100 and 150°. This technique gives economic operators access to composite materials with a longer life and lower maintenance costs, while being more environmentally friendly.

Second place

Artiria Medical is an EPFL spin-off working in the field of neurovascular medicine. The start-up has developed a system that allows neurosurgeons to safely navigate cerebral arteries. This technology makes it possible to improve the treatment of strokes.

ExerGo

Third place

ExerGo is a start-up company operating in the field of low-temperature heat networks. By using CO2 as a heat and cold transfer fluid instead of water, this technology reduces CO2 emissions by 90% compared to traditional solutions. This solution allows the exchange of heat waste between buildings and provides an efficient district heating and cooling network.

The start-up develops technology that enables customers to excel in quality of fresh produce and achieve price leadership while reducing environmental impact.

Perovskia Solar SA

PEROVSKIA SOLAR is a cleantech startup that provides digitally printed, customizable solar cells for OEMs. Our vision is to equip every device with a solar cell. The solar cells are tailored to seamlessly integrate with electronic devices, IoT and sensors. The versatile technology offers breakthrough performance at disruptive cost. The perovskite semiconductor used in the solar cells is considered the best light conversion material to date, allowing the solar cells to be used in low-light conditions in homes and offices.

CYSEC is a EPFL start-up that protects sensitive data processed by companies. More and more data is the target of cyber attacks and threatens the confidentiality of users around the world. For this reason, the start-up has developed the software ARCA trusted OS, a secure environment for storing sensitive data and running important software.

rready AG

rready is a US VC backed startup that offers turnkey B2B SaaS products to launch, manage & automate employee driven innovation programs in large organizations. Their main product is based on the Kickbox methodology, which has been developed in Silicon Valley and has been adopted by thousand of organizations worldwide - the stat-up turned the method into a scalable software product.

SmartBreed

SmartBreed is a Swiss agritech start-up that offers insect breeders a complete breeding solution directly at the customer’s site. The start-up enable their customers to breed insects easily with very little effort. Therefore the start-up offers its patented and fully automated breeding boxes, in which insects can be bred economically, efficiently, and hygienically.

Volumina Medical is an innovative company in the field of reconstructive surgery. The company develops regenerative and degradable implants that allow for the natural reconstruction of the breast in a minimally invasive manner. The team is driven by a deep motivation to provide solutions for breast cancer patients in need of repair after breast removal. The first product in development has already been endorsed by over 70 plastic surgeons worldwide and by breast cancer patients. Patients see hope in regaining their natural physical form and beyond that, the possibility of psychological reconstruction after a very difficult experience.

Neurosoft Bioelectronics

Neurosoft Bioelectronics ' vision is to replace the way we interact with the nervous system to enable better therapies for patients suffering from severe neurological disorders. Their new class of neural implants seamlessly interface with the nervous system. With their unique neural interface technology, their ultimate goal is to develop the next generation of brain-computer interfaces that have great medical potential, such as enabling quadriplegics to interact with their environment or relieving patients suffering from disabling tinnitus.

Bloom Biorenewables SA

Third place

Bloom reveals the hidden value of biomass to provide energy and renewable products for markets such as fragrances, materials, plastics and textiles. For the first time, Bloom offers products that are both sustainable and affordable.

Dagsmejan is a young high-tex company based in Zurich with the mission to boost sleep quality by means of innovative functional sleepwear. While a functional revolution has been brought step-changes to activewear, Dagsmejan is bringing those functional ideas to the world of sleepwear, creating garments that are fully aligned to the physiological needs of the sleeping body, designed for optimal sleep quality.

Backbone

Backbone is tackling the 100-Billion market of visuals by building the first platform to order any type of visuals, photos, videos, stagings, virtual tours. Brands and companies order in 1 minute on the platform, we manage the project wherever it is, and they receive their visuals in 48h.

Agrosustain aims to become the one-stop-shop for biological plant protection. In this context, AgroSustain develops highly effective, biological fungicides and coatings to protect fruits and vegetables from molds and fast ripening, from farm to fork. Its novel products will permit to maintain high food quality in the entire logistic chain, as well as to reduce the environmental impact of food waste, effectively minimizing CO2 emissions.

BLP Digital AG

An ETH Zurich spin-off, BLP Digital develops AI-based software to extract and process information from business documents. They have developed a state-of-the-art end-to-end automation solution for the delivery note and invoice verification process, already in use by their customers. BLP Digital's ultimate vision is to free-up all back-office workers from mind-numbing, repetitive administrative tasks, in order to have a positive impact on both society and economy.

Synthara AG

Synthara develops the world’s most energy-efficient silicon chip designs for edge computing. The underlying technology was developed by the founders at the Institute of Neuroinformatics in Zurich, building on prior experience at top-tier silicon tech companies. The company is now working to commercializing these with a focus on AI-on-the-edge battery-operated devices to deliver meaningful processing capability within constrained power budgets.

SUN bioscience is an innovator in the field of organ-disease modeling and patient variation analysis. Exploiting the power of their bioengineering technologies and living biobank they engage in partnered projects for preclinical drug development on human stem cell organoids. Their current pipeline features programs for rare diseases affecting the intestinal or the blood-brain-barrier and immuno-oncology.

Pristem is a Swiss Medtech company dedicated to advance the practice of medicine and save lives by providing universal and sustainable access to essential medical technologies and services in locations where basic healthcare needs remain unfulfilled. They are currently developing leading-edge medical imaging systems and e-Health services. The company aims at becoming a market leader on global markets.

PXL Vision AG

Third place

PXL Vision is a Swiss high-tech startup providing a scalable software platform for the secure verification of digital identities, based on computer vision machine learning. The solution provides highest security at full automation and helps companies reduce fraud, lower the cost of customer onboarding and maximize sales conversion. PXLs customers includes the SwissID and most Swiss TelCos among others.

Audience Award

Microcaps delivers microencapsulation with Swiss precision. The ETH Zurich spin-off produces today’s highest standards of microcapsules for precise release and controlled delivery, making it possible to predict when and where an active material is released. This is of highest importance for pharmaceutical drug delivery, for example as medication carriers in injections, inhalation, or as a specific protection against acidic stomach environments. However, it can as well be applied in cosmetics for fragrances, food for aromas, and nutraceutics for probiotics.

9T Labs

9T Labs pursue the mission to make industry grade carbon fiber composites more accessible through 3D printing, which is bringing automation and advanced optimization capabilities to a $80 billions industry, completely rethinking the way fiber composites are made to date.

They specialize in Mobility Analytics using telecom data. They are hard coders and have figured out and built the technology, which analyzes at scale a specific data type generated by telcom's across the world called Call Detail Records (CDR's).

Nanogence SA

Nanogence aspires to be a global synthetic material innovation company. We take part in production, research, development, and sales of all types of novel synthetic materials. Our disruptive process technologies enable solutions for various industries and support the cradle-to-cradle loop. Nanogence develops synthetic tailor-made novel material in a B2B framework in application sectors such as construction, pharmaceutical and mobility The products are synthesized materials placed at the beginning of the value chain, creating a new product category, improving the characteristics of the construction materials, while being cheaper and eco-friendlier than any comparable products.

Fixposition AG

Fixposition is developing robust, cm-precise navigation sensors for drones, robots and autonomous vehicles. By deep fusion of navigation satellite signals with computer vision, their matchbox sized sensors are able to navigate in environments where traditional GPS receivers are failing to operate. This enables and guarantees safe operation of these systems, for instance in cities.
